HISTORY

The Sabaoth International Film Festival takes place in the days prior to the Music Festival. It is  unique in its genre, being the only Christian film festival in Europe open to the secular public (with free access to alls screenings and seminars) and one of the few similar festivals worldwide.

This year will see the 3rd edition of the SIFF.

Since it was created in 2002, the aim of the festival has been to bring together talented Christian filmmakers working in the fields of cinema, television and animated films worldwide, in order to give recognition and encouragement to their search for excellence in this area.

Films are submitted from all over the world and fall into the following categories: feature drama under and over 50mins, documentaries under and over 30mins, animation, student and video clips.

The winner of each category receives an “ADAM AWARD” our Christian version of the Oscar!

This year, we are hoping to award a special monetary prize for the best student film, in order to encourage the younger generations.

Last year, the films were subtitled “live” in order to encourage a more numerous audience participation and this year we have decided that the three finalist films selected for each category will be translated and subtitled at Sabaoth’s expense in order to facilitate subsequent distribution.

Our final aim is that the message of the Gospel be announced all over Italy even by means of this media, therefore we are looking ahead to something that can continue after the festival is over.

During the film festival, in between screenings, there are workshops and specialized seminars in which experts, directors and producers share their know-how with the public in an informal manner. There are always Q&A sessions at the end and the sessions are open, as all the festival events, to all those interested.

Networking between the participants is encouraged and this year more time will be dedicated to “sharing and praying” sessions.

Over the years, an ever increasing number of international operators have attended or participated actively with their films, aware that the SIFF is becoming more and more important in the Christian Film Market.

 

MISSION STATEMENT AND VISION

We believe that the nation of Italy will be touched once again by the power of the Gospel in an authentic and absolutely unreligious way. To this extent, we are convinced that art, in its many-varied forms, is an efficacious and powerful means of touching people with the message of Christ Jesus.

We believe that the Sabaoth Christian Music and Film Festivals can continue to grow and expand, increasing in quality and reaching an even wider spectrum of persons.

We need people who believe in this project and who can support us both in prayer and economically so that together we can be history makers in a new spiritual reawakening of Italy.
